The Small Man Who Found Big Forgiveness: Zacchaeus and Luke 19

Colossians 3:20

Once upon a time, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a very short man, and he wanted to see Jesus, who was coming to his town. But there were so many people blocking his view because they were all taller than him.

Zacchaeus didn't give up. He ran ahead and climbed up a big tree so he could see Jesus when he passed by. He perched on a branch, waiting anxiously for Jesus to arrive.

When Jesus reached the spot where Zacchaeus was, he looked up and said, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly! I want to stay at your house today." Zacchaeus was surprised and happy that Jesus noticed him.

Zacchaeus climbed down from the tree as fast as he could and led Jesus to his house. People in the town were not happy because Zacchaeus was a tax collector, and many thought he was not a good person.

But when Zacchaeus met Jesus, something amazing happened. He realized that he had done wrong things and that he needed to change. He said to Jesus, "I will give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will pay them back four times as much!"

Jesus was very pleased with Zacchaeus. He said, "Today, salvation has come to this house. Zacchaeus, you are a true son of Abraham because you have shown that you want to do what is right."

Zacchaeus learned an important lesson that day. He discovered that no matter what mistakes he had made in the past, it was never too late to change and make things right. Jesus' love and forgiveness gave him a fresh start.

The people in the town also learned something that day. They saw how Jesus loved and accepted Zacchaeus, despite what others thought of him. It reminded them that everyone deserves a chance to change and be forgiven.

Zacchaeus became a better person because of his encounter with Jesus. He learned to be honest and kind, and he started helping those who were in need. He became a true friend of Jesus and followed his teachings with a joyful heart.

So, my dear friend, the story of Zacchaeus teaches us that no matter who we are or what we have done, Jesus loves us and wants to help us change for the better. Just like Zacchaeus, we can learn from our mistakes, make amends, and show kindness to others.
